  admin1's Expertise
I'm pretty good at sitting and watching the waterfall with a Pepsi in my hand. While I'm no gardener, I am pretty good at bar-b-que (My dad was a internationally known chef...).

Rosie was asked by a bar-b-que team to fill in at the last minute for the American Royal Bar-B-Que contest to do their side dish. She fixed her cheesy potatoes in their smoker... and WON THE AMERICAN ROYAL on her first try. Over 400 entries... and she scored a perfect score with EVERY JUDGE. Now those are some darn GOOD potatoes.

  admin1's Interests
My main interests are computers and traveling. I'm really no gardener, I leave most of that up to Rosie. I just do the design and building. I know that we have lots of plants... Rosie knows their names!

Come on in! The Water's Great!
Hi!

Welcome to "MyYardPage". Rosie and I put our backyard on the internet last year ( HERE ) and we've had such a great response. Lots of people have asked what it took to put a site up like that (ugh, not like that, that was just a quickie).

I realized what was needed was a "MySpace" kind of web 'community' for the back yard and garden lovers of the world. Believe me, there are lots of gardens and yards that would just make you green with envy, and make my yard look just 'sorta ok'.

Now everyone has a place that they can come to show off their yard, their garden or just their hammock. (Believe me, that's a lot less work than a yard, and the ONE THING that I'm missing!)

I invite you to put up your own page (it is FREE), and share your yard or gardening experience, or backyard grilling receipes. I don't care if your garden or grill is just on a small deck on an apartment... it is YOUR OWN place. I've seen some great deck gardens, and gotten some wonderful Hibachi receipes in the past.

  About admin1
I'm a system designer/developer of all kinds of systems. I've been involved with space systems, nuclear systems, automationl, robotics, spectrographic analysis, medical systems and more.

When we're not working and not traveling, Rosie and I really like to enjoy our backyard. The pool, the gardens, the waterfall, the fountains, the pond, etc. Having our morning coffee out at the Cantina on the veranda is a wonderful way to start the morning, and better way to finish the evening.

Other than the pool that was here when we purchased the home, everything we've done in the backyard we've done ourselves... yep, NO contractors. We went from a useless slope (that was a real runoff problem since it came towards the pool and house), to what we've got now. (See the pictures). We did it all by hand, and all for something under $3000 (but that included some great garage sale work by rosie to find the ourdoor lighting...).

But that is enough about me and us... we would really like to see your yard! There are some really great ones out there.

And even if your yard isn't great, if you enjoy your yard, or you enjoy grilling, smoking, etc and have some receipes to share, we'd love to here from you!

Of this and that...

Tonight I'm just sort of testing my new MyYardPage blog. I haven't really got the time to go into anything in detail. However, in the future I'll talk about the back yard and how we designed and put it together, including tips and tricks I learned along the way about making 'faux' rock from mortar. (As you can tell we did a LOT of it, and I got plenty of experience... in the beginning the experience was mostly what NOT to do.)

The job really isn't that overwhelming. Most of it has to do with good planning and taking your time. Anyway, I'll leave that for another day.

What I'm really hoping is that some/all of you will join me with your own (FREE) MyYardPage web site and share your own experiences. See you in the forums!
